Are We Brainwashing Our KIds?

We are big fans of the University of Oklahoma. In fact, our whole family is except my brother in-law, but that is for another blog. Some might say that we are die hard fans. It is not uncommon for my kids to request the OU fight song as soon as we get in the car. The windows have to stay up because they want it turned up as loud as I will let them. Over the blaring band I can hear my 19 month old yell GO GO GO GO.... Along with his finger in the air. My oldest son will not wear anything orange. "He doesn't like that color?", you ask. Well not exactly it is the color of another state school which will remain nameless and Texas. The other day we went to an area drive-in, kinda of like Sonic, and they had all the Big 12 school banners hanging from each booth. My kids were in the back seat screaming "can't park there that says OSU or there that says Texas Tech", etc. etc. Thankfully we found an open one that read OU. You know you may be brainwashing your children when at a school party your daughter refuses to eat the cookie because the cookies say OSU and she says her mommy and daddy would not be happy. All I can say to all of this is I can't wait till football season. GO OU!!!!

Tiffany's has these gorgeous occasion rings to celebrate every important occasion in your life. They have a pink sapphire ring for having a baby girl and blue one if it's a boy. They have numerous rings to choose from, below is just a sample. How great would this have been if I received a blue sapphire ring one about 51/2 months ago?! I will say that my anniversary is coming up on April 6th...maybe I can drop a hint to Big H. (It IS our 5th anniversary, so maybe he'll give in. Sigh I wish!)

Happy 31st!

Well, today is my 31st birthday, and let me tell you that I really don't feel that much different, nor is my day any different from any other. I woke this morning to a crying baby and a crabby 3 year old--really, my morning every day. I also have a fun filled day of cleaning the bathrooms ahead of me, seeing that my housekeeper no-showed my yesterday. Arghh! But, I am going to do some birthday shopping today with my parents, so I can pick out a gift. I never know what to ask for--any must haves I need for spring???? Tomorrow night Big H and I will be going out to dinner--without the kids--so I am looking forward to that.
I talked to a friend earlier this morning who turned 35 this year. She said she was excited because she's closer to 40. I asked why she would be EXCITED about turning 40 and she explained that she will be wiser, smarter and more sure of herself, so unlike how she felt when she was 25. She said she's always wondered how her life would be at 40. And you know, I have to agree with her. I remember myself at 25 and although life was easier, with no kids and all, my life is much more fulfilling now. There is no way I would want to go back to 25. So, my friend is right, I am definitely looking forward to my years ahead of me, maybe not turning 40 per se, but the fact that I'll be more mature and wiser, well, that's something to celebrate right?

So Many Choices!!!

I don't think I'm going to be able to make my mine up on these choices. Each one of them are adorable. They are all from Chasing Fireflies. If you have any ideas about which one I should get I would love to hear them.

Bunnies and Butterflies

I know the owner of this locally owned company that makes adorable burp cloths, blankets and bibs. They have a wide variety of patterns and materials as well. I liked the simplicty of the top pattern.

One of the owners gave Little N these two bibs as a gift. I couldn't find them online, so maybe she made some especially for N:) Doubt it. Anyway, "mangi" means "eat" in Italian, which I thought was pretty clever. Since Little N is starting solids now, these are definately coming in handy. In fact, he got sweet potatoes all over the "mangi" bib today for lunch.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is just around the corner believe it or not. Time seems to have flown since the new year. I really try to do my shopping for b-days and special occasions a few months early so that I'm not stressing the week of. I found these beautiful hand made broaches for any deserving mom or grandmother.

Olive Juice

I found this cute company called Olive Juice today. They have some really cute classic looking clothes for boys and girls. I feel sometimes, especially for girls, that childrens clothing can be a little too trendy. So it is nice to see companies come out with clothes that look their age.

Boden USA

Mini Boden is having a 15% discount plus free-shipping today thru Friday. Cute things for kids and for us.

I Love Love Love J Crew

These are my new purchases from J Crew. I can't wait to wear each of them, especially the flip flops. I don't know about you, but I live in flip flops in the summer. I have found that the J Crew ones are definitely the most comfortable. This weekend I promised my little girl that we would go and get a pedicure. After that I will be sporting my brand new flip flops since it has been almost 80 degrees here for the past week.

Super Kids!

Came across these adorable personalized capes today from Ellie Bellie Kids. I'm sure all of your little super heroes would appreciate these as much as you do. I totally should have found these when my son went through his "cape" phase about two months ago. The site also sells cute messanger bags and tutus for your little girls.

Stuck on You

Because I'm going back to work in June (Boooo!), I was thinking that I need to start getting Little N some things for when he'll be in Mother's Day Out. Which reminded me of this great web site Stuck on You. It's a store that sells vinyl personalized stickers. They are microwave and dishwasher safe and they have an assortment of icons and colors for your stickers. They really are a great product--I got little J some when he was about 18 months, and I STILL have the packet I bought! I put them on everything!--sippy cups, toys, and even his Easter basket for the Easter egg hunt at school. They don't peel or come off! And for all of you that have children with allergies, they have stickers that say "Peanut Free" or "Egg Free", etc. The site wouldn't let me get a picture to show you, so you'll just have to trust me on this one and visit the site.

Vintage Barbie

Check out these vintage Barbie pictures. They are from Posh Tots and a must have for any Barbie collector. If Barbie is not quite your thing check out their site anyway. They have absolutely beautiful items.

Water Boxes

Why didn't I think of this. My kids don't really drink that much juice, but they would certainly drink more water if I got them this. A company called Wateroos developed this idea and I must say I love it. It comes plain or flavored with apple or grape. The best thing about them is that there aren't any sugars or sweeteners added. I will definitely be getting some of these.

Great Find

I found these awesome flip flops today for my little girl at Target. They look very familiar to the ones at Crew Cuts. However, they were only $7.99 as compared to $19.50 at Crew Cuts.

Spring is in at Neiman Marcus

Here are a few of the great things I found at Neiman Marcus today. The first is an electronic shopper--meaning the voice-recognition devise will organize and print your shopping list onto paper with the push of a button! It even mounts to your fridge! Man, why could I have not thought of this one--what a great idea!

Next, are these colorful food containers--thought they could be fun for a spring or summertime party. Alot more festive than your Glad containers, huh?

Now, my favorites. The seersucker espadrille from Castaner and the great Burberry espadrille. They are a little pricey, but heck, if you're willing to splurge a little bit, these would be GREAT to own. How cute is the seersucker?

Is There a Dr. in the House?

I woke up this morning with a huge headache-- much like the one Kerry had the other day, must be contagious:) Anyway, I'm pretty prone to getting these suckers and they are not just any ordinary headache, they are pretty severe. I've been diagnosed with chronic daily headaches whatever that is. I never get them when I'm pregnant and rarely get them while I'm nursing. So, I figure they are hormonal. So, I'm lying on the couch, and Little J comes up and says, "mommy, you sick?" . I said that I just have a headache and that mommy is just fine. He comes back later with his Dr's case and begins to "doctor" me up. It was really cute and I think it showed just how much he's growing up. He even sealed the deal by giving my forehead a kiss! I gave the Dr. kit to him for Christmas this year. I bought it from Magic Cabin toys. They have great stuff--a lot of imaginative and wooden toys for your little ones. I feel like the wooden toys just last a whole lot longer than some of the plastic toys out there. That's been my day so far--lot's of lazying around with my headache--hopefully it will pass so I can go out and enjoy the spring-like weather we are having!
