I've tried EVERYTHING! Little N absolutley will not eat baby food. I've tried cereal, veggies, fruit and even tried making my own. He scowls, turns his head and presses his lips tightly together. I've forced the spoon in his mouth but that only works a couple of times. I've tried tricking him into laughing, and then I quickly shove the spoon in, but he catches on the next time. What do I do? He's six months old and I've been trying for two months. That' s right, TWO months. I mean he's gaining weight and is generally happy--he just won't eat. Very frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this? We go for his six month check-up on Monday, so maybe the Dr. will have some tips. But, would also like to hear any you guys have too!

Are you still nursing? Whatever he's getting (breast milk, formula, etc.) he might be getting a little too much so he's full. Same thing if you're giving him water (but I think he'd be losing weight if it were the water).
If he's gaining weight then he's eating SOMETHING (the milk).
Try feeding him before offering anything to drink.
Also, are you trying the sweeter foods like sweet potatoes? Those were always a hit with my children.
I did milk during the day and then water after meals when they were infants.
Now that they are older it's the reverse--water during the day and milk with meals.
I've tried EVERY sweet food--and I"ve tried feeding him before nursing. I don't know--maybe I need to cut out a feeding or something...thanks for the advise!
Keep at it. Get into a routine where you do the exact same thing at each mealtime (i.e., put him in seat, put on bib, etc...) so he knows what to expect and what's coming next. And definitely try the solids when you know he'll be hungry. Each day will get easier, especially if you're consistent!
Good luck!
It’s not that the jewelry post didn’t catch my eye, believe me, it did! But I’ve never seen anything like those cheese graters, how fun! Regarding Little N, there’s a blog I read and the author has been dealing with some pretty severe food aversions with her kiddo, though he’s a little older. I believe she talks about it at some length in her February archives. (www.missandrea.typepad.com/babycakes) Good luck!
Thanks!
As long as he's getting breast milk or formula and gaining weight he'll be fine. He's probably full from the formula. I would just leave it be for a little bit and try again in a few weeks or a month. My nine month old just started last month eating baby food because he never wanted it. So I feed him the jar food for a couple of weeks then I started getting him the Gerber pieces of food in a jar. There like little cut up pieses of carrots, apples, green beans, etc. He loves those and eats them all the time. Good luck!!
It's a good sign he's gaining weight. I agree with Head Hen that it sounds like he may be getting too much to drink.
He doesn't have reflux does he? I'm guessing if he did, you'd probably know this by now as it would have been an issue with nursing too.
Most likely it's just a matter of time and getting used to something new.
to be honest I would nt worry too much if he is thriving. He may sense your frustration and enjoy the game of it all. When he is ready he will do it
good luck

my son wouldn't eat baby food either - I kept trying and trying and I'd think he liked something and then he wouldn't. I graduated him much sooner to soft table foods at my Dr's suggestion.
My 2 1/2 year old never ate baby food or even cereal. Finally about 9 months we just gave her the tiniest bits of whatever we were eating along with nursing. She nursed until 15 months. By then she just ate whatever we ate.
thanks for stopping by..
happy monday
