Summer by the Sea

Thought all of these little treasures would be great for all of you people who visit the beach and sea almost every weekend. I, however, am landlocked and would have to travel hundreds of miles to get to the sea. The lighthouse salt and pepper shakers are handcrafted from Maine. They cost a pretty penny too. $60 smokes for each one! A little steep for salt and pepper mills, if you ask me. You can find all of this at Williams Sonoma, but only online and in the catalog.

We've been tagged

Kerry from over at More, More, More tagged us. We are supposed to list 8 random facts about us and then tag 8 more people. I'm pretty sure everyone I know in the blog world has probably been tagged by now, so I tag whoever wants to do this. Also, S#1 sucks, so I'm doing the 8 random facts.

1. My office would make a great sitcom.

2. My boss, a partner in the firm, strictly prefers metro-sexual hair products. He's straight.

3. I'm a female democrat and I don't dig Hillary.

4. I prefer a day at the spa to sex. Ahhh, to be alone is heaven.

5. I don't know how to clean and it isn't hard to do.

6. Rob Schneider, especially in Hot Chick, is hilarious.

7. Kathy Griffin's new show on Bravo: hilarious. (Is there any chance she's a man?)

8. I've totally been reprimanded by a judge for my court attire. Seriously? Dude, I'm the best dressed person in this court room by far!!!

To Bee Named

Many of you may have already heard of the adorable store named To Bee Named. I love these adorable lobster cocktail napkins. Wouldn't they look even cuter with a monogrammed initial or name on them? What a great idea for a backyard party this summer. I am always looking forward to football season and can already picture some cute red cocktail napkins with a monogrammed OU on them. Perfect for tailgating parties or watch parties for away games. The 2nd picture is of a precious monogrammed reversible placemat. They have other patterns to pick from too which you can choose for the other side or change the monogram. Head on over there soon and maybe you can even knock out some early Christmas presents.

Weekend Update

Friday night we had a date night. We got a "real" baby sitter to watch the boys. "Real", in that it wasn't one of our parents watching the kids. Lately the grandparents have been busy and I feel that the older they get the harder it is to watch two children. Whenever we come home, the house is messy, the grandparents are tired, and usually they don't follow our advise. So, this time we got a girl that used to be one of Little J's teachers and it worked perfectly! She had the kids to sleep at the times we told her to AND she picked up! Love it. The only thing about grandparents watching the kids is that they are free--which always a plus.
Anyway, we haven't been to a movie in ages so we went to see the new Harry Potter movie. I really liked it and I almost cried when Sirius (sp?) Black died. I don't know why. I don't even read the books, but since I get into the movies so much, I think I'm going to have to start reading them. Plus, it would be nice to have them on hand for when the boys are older.
Saturday we really didn't do a whole lot. I got a haircut and I always feel good after a haircut. I also really like my hairdresser. He's funny and interesting to talk to, plus it was 2 hours without having to get someone a drink, snack, bottle, diaper or toilet paper! That evening, the family went to a new pizza place in town that is kind of in an artsy/hippie part of the city. They serve organic food, which is great b/c not too many places around here offer that. We ate outside and the food wasn't that bad.
Sunday nothing special happened. The highlight of my Sundays is when I get to watch Entourage--love that show and especially Kevin Dillon.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Oh, Little N is now officially a crawler!

Need Birthday Gift Ideas

My little girl is going to a birthday party for twins who are turning 8. We have known these little girls since birth so I am wanting to give them a special gift. I always like to give them each their own considering the twin thing. If any of you guys have any ideas I would welcome each of them. I could go to Target and just pick up any old thing, but considering that they are wonderful family friends I just can't do this.

Trip from Hell

Yesterday I went to Target for diapers. I took both kids--mistake number 1. I place Little N in the cart and proceed to the diaper area. Little N almost immediately begins to cry/whine. I hurry and purchase some Gerber puffy things to pacify him--Mistake number 2. Little J, noticing that Little N got something, begins to say that he wants something too. We end up in the toy section for, not kidding you, 15 minutes. He's telling me what he wants, I'm telling him that it's too expensive. He doesn't care. He wants the $25.00 transformer NOW!!!! He has no idea what this thing is. We have never seen the movie, never seen the cartoon and he has never played with the damn thing before in his life. So, why does he want it? Who the hell knows. People are looking at me now. Little N is getting restless. I'm getting impatient and I'm kind of starting to perspire a little more. I divert his attention to the cool pirate sword, which works. Well, as we are leaving the toy area, I notice that it's kind of hard and I really don't want to be hit with that thing nor the neighbor kids or Little N. I tell him we can't have it because it's too hard. He gets upset. We go back to the toy area, for about another 10 minutes. We finally end up with a blue light saber.--Mistake Number 3
At the check out Little J keeps ramming the shopping car with Little N in it into the cashier stand, laughing hysterically. Little N is scared and crying. The cashier is slow as shit. People are looking again. I'm tempted to leave the children at the check out stand. We finally pay. We are leaving and Little J is upset because he's not holding the light saber. I say you will get it in the car. He must have it NOW!!! I really want to hurt him. I don't give it to him in the car because he's not "using his normal voice." We get home and all hell has broken loose! What was supposed to be a simple freaking trip to Target for diapers ended up to be the trip from hell!
Oh, but as soon as Big H gets home both children turn on the charm and the hell stops. Why do they save this crap for just me?

New MacKenzie-Childs

MacKenzie-Childs has brought back an old favorite. It is called Brighton Pavilion and it is from the Taylor pattern. They also have this cute new bird called the pie bird. This just may have to be my next MacKenzie Childs purchase.

What Adorable Sweaters!

I was checking my email the other day and found these adorable sweaters on the daily stroll. They are from a company called Sweeters and I must say I think I would buy one every style. There are many styles to choose from for a boy and a girl and they are all hand knit. My little girl has a sweater that is hand knit with her initial D on the front. These sweaters kinda of remind me of that, but I think her sweater is from a different company. I know many of you aren't thinking about the winter season yet. However, I would definitely pop on over to the Sweeters web site today!

The Countdown Has Begun

Twelve days and counting! Is anybody else as excited as me? I have read each one and can honestly say that I finished each one in less than a week. Has anybody else ordered their Harry Potter book early?

4th of July Update

Little J had such a great time on Fourth of July. He woke up and went to a parade at my in-laws' neighborhood and scored lots of candy. Nice. He came home and we tried with everything we had to give him a nap because we knew it was going to be a late night with fireworks and all. Nap did not work. After Little N woke from his nap we went to some friends house for swimming and cook out. Little J fell asleep on the way to the house, by the way. Who says he still doesn't need a nap?
After the swimming, Big H took Little J to Big H's grandparent's house where their neighborhood was having games, face painting, bouncy house etc. for the little ones. At 10:00 the fireworks started and Little J LOVED them. I stayed home with Little N, but from Big H said, I really wished I could have been there to see Little J's face. This was the first year he has seen fireworks and I'm sorry I missed the moment. There is always next year, I know. But to miss the first time he has every seen them--I don't know, I just wish I could have experienced the moment with him.
Big H and Little J did not get home until 11:30!!!! Little J did not get in bed until MIDNIGHT!! He slept in until 9:00, but still I don't think that was enough sleep for a three year old. He didn't even nap today. Normally he would've been a huge crank monster, but he really wasn't today for some reason. I'm sure he's saving it for tomorrow, but that's OK because mama and papa are coming to get him so he can stay the night with them. Big H and I are going to an art exhibition that my neighbor is showing. It's something different and I think it will be fun. All I need to do is find someone to watch Little N--I'm still working on that and it's 9:30 on Thursday night! The are exhibition is tomorrow.... Wish me luck.

What to blog, what to blog??

I am literally in a blogging slump. I have nothing to say. Either my life is very boring and/or I am very boring and not creative--AT ALL! I really hope it is neither.

Let me think--we've had 20 days of continuous rain here. Great. No swimming, no trips to the park, no walks around the block, a lot of TV, a lot of whinning, a lot of bitching. Yep, that pretty much sums up much of my weekend.

Oh, there is one thing that I guess I'll bore you with. Big H and I went to a lunch that his uncle bought at a charity auction. The lunch was at a rather big home. We pulled into the drive way and I swear I thought we pulled into a museum parking lot. The house was AMAZING. Who are these people? What do they do for a living? The master bathroom was bigger than my family room. No joke. They had a leather game table and chairs set up in there to do puzzles on! (there was a half finished puzzle on the table). Her closet was bigger than my bedroom. Ridiculous. There was a wine cellar with hundres of wine; a cabana bigger than my upstairs. The kitchen was every woman's dream! The decor was not quite my style, but if someone gave me the house with the furniture I sure would not complain.

The lunch. Let's see, we had pre-dinner cocktails. With lunch we had wine, and with desert we had champagne called Sophia. Quite possibley one of the best champagnes I ever had. One of the ladies there mentioned that she and some other women gave a friend a baby shower and the friend was going to the name the baby Sophia. Needless to say they served Sophia champagne at the shower. I thought that was a cute idea.
With all the drinking I did, I was a little light headed on the way home. I guess I had a little buzz. Hmm. Maybe my weekend wasn't so much of a bust after all.......
