Nice Holes

I have two holes in my house right now, yeah, that's right, two holes. Due to a "leaky shower valve", I have one gigantic hole in my dining room ceiling and another smaller hole in Little N's room. Oh, the joy of owning an older home!! Everytime I walk into the dining room I feel like the hole is going to suck me in. It all started Sunday night when I hear a strage sound, like someone opening a wrapper. I think it's my husband trying to open a piece of candy, when I realize that he has been trying to open the candy for far too long. So, I walk into the dining room and see that it's actually "raining" right onto my hard wood floor. Nice. Little J is up stairs showering (he won't take baths), so I run up there and tell Big H to turn off the water b/c we have an emergency downstairs. So, now I' m left with two freaking big holes in my house. I think I'm taking all of this pretty well, considering that we just had Little N's room re-done about 2 months before he was born. Oh, well, whatta ya gonna to do?

Food Allergies

In a couple of weeks it will be one year that we found out that my little bug #3 had food allergies. Not just one food allergy, but multiple. We found out that he was allergic to tree nuts, peanuts, dairy, egg, and even green peas. I have numerous friends that have children with the peanut allergy so I heard what an ordeal it was. I didn't truly understand until I had a child of my own. Going to the grocery store now takes more time because I have to read every label. Has anybody ever truly looked at the ingredients to see how many things have dairy in it. Especially snack foods. I am finding it such a chore to find new and inventive things for him to eat for lunch and dinner. So if anybody out there is in the same boat, PLEASE PLEASE comment.

Mackenzie-Childs

Are any of you guys familiar with Mackenzie-Childs? If not, you really need to check it out. This is what I purchased today. A local store, On a Whim, had a 20% off sale. So I couldn't resist.
See you tomorrow,

Into "The Hills"

OK--who watched The Hills last night? Come on, you know who you are--just admit it. Don't be afraid --it's the first step in understanding that you might have a problem. I can't say why I like this show and why I have to watch it. I do like to watch it with my husband (BIG H) and make fun of the people. Anyway, what does everyone think about Spencer? First, he has really bad haird for someone who thinks they are really "the shit". Second, I can't stand his accent. It kind of graits on me. Third, he's really a big cheese. How can they stand being around him? And finally, he's a big liar! There are just not any good qualities about him, unless you count having a really awesome BMW.

Swim Suit Cover-ups

Just a quick something before I head out for most of the day.
I came across these awesome swim suit cover-ups from Mini-Boden. If you guys are like my family you probably live at the pool or beach during the summer. Little Bug #2 loves to get warm after getting out of the pool. So this is perfect for her. They have other colors and patterns as well. An added bonus is that they usually offer free shipping and returns. Order fast because things go fast.
Have a great Tuesday!!

10% off Belly Dance Baby

I don't know if any of you have heard of Belly Dance Maternity, but they have great stylish maternity clothes for all of you expecting moms. Now, from the owners of Belly Dance Maternity, they have a new children's clothing store called Belly Dance Baby. They have a great collection of clothing, travel gear and toys. These little "mitten" sweaters are darling! I'm thinking about buying one for Little N. Receive 10% off your first order online by entering "Baby" at checkout. http://www.bellydancebaby.com

Baby Cole Haan

My three month old son (Little N) received these Cole Haan baby shoes as a gift the other day. Aren't they great? I had no idea that Cole Haan made baby shoes! They are a little big for him, but I think they will be close to fitting by Easter. They have more styles on Cole Haan's website.
Now I feel that my three month old has better shoes than I. That's sad.

Family Portrait

My long awaited family portrait is already scheduled for May. I have always wanted a family portrait to go above my fire-place. Let the stressing begin on what to put 5 different people in. The color scheme is going to be white and khaki and the location is outside. So at least this is already decided. I have it kinda of narrowed down for each of my 3 bugs. Bug #2 is going to wear one of the above dresses from Orient Expressed. If you love smocked clothes you will love this site. I think Bug #1, who is 7, will wear a white Lacoste shirt with khaki pants. Baggy of course. Bug #3 will be about 21 months by the time we take our pictures. If it was up to my husband and Bug #1 he would look just like them. However, I will win this battle and he is going to wear a jon-jon. I found a really cute khaki and white linen one from Cottontail Originals. They are based out of Stillwater Oklahoma. I am still searching for that perfect outfit for him because these are his 1.5 year old pictures too. It seems it is getting a little chaotic on the home front so I will blog later about my outfit choices.

Have a great Sunday,

YO! My Son Raps!

Last night was Little J's (my oldest son) 3rd birthday party at a gymnastics center. There were 14 children there all under the age of 3 (minus his two older cousins), and despite all the chaos, it was a success...I think. For party favors I made CD's of Little J's favorite music. I ordered lables from http://www.clarkstationary.com to put on the CD case and I think they turned out really cute.

I might add that his favorite songs are not from your everyday children's collection. His taste is kind of eclectic. Some of the songs on the CD include: "We Will Rock You", "Billie Jean" and "Since U Been Gone"--the kid's taste cuts a wide path as you can see. Unfortunately for me, his favorite music is rap, which doesn't exactly play well in southwest surburbia (I recognize there are many who like rap, I'm just not one of them --remember, we're 'Sisters With Style" not "Sisters With Soul"). Yes, so I'm not in to rap, but Little J really digs it. His aunt made us a rap CD and he we have to listen to it every time we get in the car--it's starting to get really annoying. One of his favorite songs on the CD from his aunt, is "Drop it Like It's Hot" (edited of course). We have to listen to that one loud and I'm totally embarassed when we pull up to his school with that song blaring in our car.

Love,

Which is Which

OK--I guess we need to let everyone know out there which sister is "talking". I will be called sister2 and my sister will called sister1, seeing that she's older than I.
She is four years older than I and it was great growing up with her and using her closet. However, may I say that she never let be borrow her birth certificate or her ID so I could go to 21 and over bars...Boo! Some chick in one of my classes gave me her old ID and we looked nothing alike. It did the trick though. I guess sister1 was too scared (aka lame) to help me out with the bar scene.
Speaking of the bar scene--I feel that people my age who regularly visit bars are making up for past time. They were probably really lame people in their early twenties and stayed home everynight with their boyfriend/girlfriend. So now they feel like they have"making up" to do. I mean, I wore out the bar scene for about 4 years and have no intention on going back. Don't get me wrong, I like a good drink when out to dinner with friends, or I certainly still like a good buzz at a party. But, I just feel like I've done the bar scene already and it's time to move on to another stage in my life. So, to all of you who are thirty-something and still think it's cool to get drunk and party on the weekends--think again, or in the alternative, get a life.

Always Searching

Being from a city and state that does not offer much in the way of children clothing (or not much of anything really), my sister and I are always on the look out for new and different clothing for our children. Yes, we have the everyday BabyGap, Ralph Lauren, and what not, but we like our children to dress differently from their friends and peers. So, a part of our blog will be sharing some of the great finds we discover on the web and else where.
However, my sister and I also have many different interests from each other, so I think you'll find our blog to be pretty diverse and interesting.
Can't wait to get started!!

A lurker no more!!

January 26, 2007

I have been one of those so called "lurkers" for a few months now. The other day I read a blog saying how upsetting it was that nobody ever commented. This got me thinking so I thought I would no longer be a so called lurker. I talked this over with my sister who was also a lurker and we decided to start our own blog. We felt that this would be a good way to communicate with our other sister in NYC. So since this is my 1st attempt I'm going to make this short and sweet because I'm kinda of anxious to see what it is going to look like. Crazy I know.
